This little picture book is a portrait of a kid named Softdoor Scout Finnagain who witnesses her dreams, who find herself awake inside her dreams aware that she is dreaming. This awareness affords her a gentle distance from the harsh conditions of the world. She feels like she is being prepared as a gift for something wonderful that is waiting for her. She feels like the only sane person on a mad world, and even her bestest and beloved friend is as mad as a hatter. But the one thing that that saves her is how much love there is under the madness, conflict, and sorrow. So she creates an art of small performance ritual for her pal: Daffodil Dash Eleven, to feed her little bits of sanity and beauty so that she too can live in the paradise she calls Lower Utopia.
